Trevor could have used the question of whether the sound guy reminded his grandmother of the police to point out the lasting pain and animosity caused by the troubled past.

Y’all Americas are materialistic. People in other countries refused to leave where they lived their whole life or upgrade anything because everything has memories. My dads house is falling apart but my dad is trying to keep it. Even though you is waisting try to do that but my grandfather made that house. My dad lot of memories of that house. So not everyone wants a better home or upgrade things they just want to keep those memories or peace that they find in that place

Trevor trash the hell out that white dude and he was like "yeah that happened." White dude acknowledged it and shut the hell up. Which is the best thing he could do in that situation. There was no white guilt or im sorry as if he was there himself, no deflection or justifying just a look of that was screwed up now lets move foward as the human race.

A friend of mine played in the NBA. He's now retired. One year his team played an exhibition game in Richmond va (his home town) and he was criticized because his mother lived in a bad part of town and people wanted to know why he didn't build her a home in a nicer neighborhood. What they didn't realize was that he tried but she refused to leave the neighborhood where she was born and raised and where all her lifelong friends live. She passed a few years later. She died happy and although the church is a large dwelling, they had to put speakers outside to accommodate all her friends inside and outside of the neighborhood who attended her funeral.

Funny how the new generations has to pay the debts of the old ones.Funny how the focus is so on past injustices when the present ones are overlooked. We should always learn from the past, but perhaps it is time that we as South Africans focus on the present rather than the past.If we stare into darkness, that is all we will find - but if you seek the light, you will find it.
