The moment he started referring to the ‘side inlet’ as a ‘hole’ was the moment I switched off...

G = Gelände 🤪 wow... btw it pronounces something like "gay-land-day", with the emphasis on "land". It means 'terrain', but I guess it also helps with having a fun day outside of the city. Now it all makes sense...

When I was a kid I used to have many toy cars and there were two of the same size which were my favourites ones: a black ferrari and a white porsche... ...some time later I discovered they were a Ferrari F40 and a Porsche 959.... If I only knew what I was holding in my hands........ Whatever, never felt better to have those, even if they were just toys.

A unicorn. A true work of art. And it's not 1980's fast, it's 2020 fast.

I remember being 16 and getting the mail one day. There was a cardboard tube from Porsche addressed to my dad. Inside was a poster of the 959, a brochure that was like a book of 911 history & design plus beautifully detailed cutaway artwork & technical specifications for the 959, and a hand-signed letter from Dr. Ferry Porsche inviting dad to own one of the upcoming supercars. Dad said "that's the car I saw in the R&D building they wouldn't let me take pictures of" two years prior when he had been at the factory for a tour and track time after taking deliver of three 944s. The letter stipulated five times in three pages that the 959 was "not legal for highway use in the USA" and was "never to be operated upon a U.S. highway." The price was just under $250,000U.S., and dad laughed and said "for a car we can't drive?!" He passed on the offer.Within a year, he was kicking himself often, especially when M.S.O.s and title bonds for the 959 were trading at $750k before the cars were even being built!

I read that the gelande gear is actually the first gear. but to be aproved on some noise laws, it had to do a launch at full speed in first gear and it had to be below a certain noise volume at redline. Because it starts in 2nd gear, it reaches the redline further of the microphone doing the volume check. Don't know if it is true or not, maybe someone from Germany can confirm is this law was something real or not

The Porsche 959 is a beautiful, powerful and high tech off road sport car. I like the 959 hydraulic suspension that can be raise and lower. The Porsche participated in the Paris to Dakar Sahara desert car rally or race that started in the city of Paris France and end in the city of Dakar in Senegal. This was one of the longest and hardest off road race in the world that happened mainly in the hot and sandy Sahara desert in Africa. I remember there was a rich businessman that own a 959 on his vacation home in the Dominican Republic and the Microsoft Billionaire Bill Gates own a Porsche 959.

You gave "one of the all-time icons of the automotive industry" a Doug Score of 65. I don't even know what to say other than you should just throw the Doug Score out for some cars. (this would be one of those cars)
